Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has commenced work on its first development centre in the Technopark campus here.
Being built over one million sq ft in area, the centre will come up on 26 acres of Special Economic Zone land as part of the first phase of development of existing Technopark.
APPROVAL READY
According to an official spokesman, Technopark authorities have already accorded approval for the uniquely designed signature building of the new TCS facility.
The new facility has been designed in such a manner as to aesthetically merge with the environment. It will have inbuilt mechanisms to conserve and protect environment. Terming this as a good augury for Technopark, Mr Mervin Alexander, Chief Executive Officer, Technopark, said it would create high-paying jobs and will contribute significantly to software and services exports from Technopark.
This would also encourage other IT majors to move into Technopark, Mr Alexander hoped.
TRAINING CENTRE
Though TCS is among the first entrants into Technopark, it has not had a development centre. But it runs ‘Peepal's Park,' the Global Training Centre for new recruits, from within the campus.
With the new building coming up, TCS will add additional employment opportunities of at least 8,000 professionals in Technopark, Mr Alexander said.
The company is already looking for temporary space to commence software development even before the building becomes ready for occupation.
TCS is also likely to start work soon on a separate global training facility in Technocity, the new development phase of Technopark, over 82 acres of land.
