Information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services exports from Telangana have gone up by 17 per cent to ₹1,09,219 crore in the financial year 2018-19.
The State clocked IT exports worth ₹93,400 crore in 2017-18, showing a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15.6 per cent as against the national average of 10.30 per cent. In 2016-17, it registered IT exports to the tune of ₹85,475 crore.
“In 2018-19, the number of people that the IT and ITES industry employed has gone up by 14.2 per cent to reach 5,43,033 people,” tweeted former Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday.
India’s overall IT exports were estimated to be $137 billion in 2018-19 as against $126 billion in the previous year. The State set a target to double the IT exports to ₹1.20 crore by 2019 from ₹56,000 crore that it registered in 2013-14.
