The Telecom Commission (TC) on Tuesday approved various issues including in-flight connectivity and internet telephony and telephone ombudsman for addressing customer complaints.
For the in-flight connectivity will be allowed within the Indian air space with a licence fee of Rupee 1 for the Telecom service provider and the consumer price will be decided by the operator and the airline company, senior Department of Telecom (DoT) official told reporters here.
The official said the decision will not require the Cabinet approval and operations should be started in the next three-four months.
The TC has also approved two additional items including submarine cable between Chennai and Andaman & Nicobar islands at a total cost of ₹1,224 crore, and Bharatnet in eight states, the official said. “The submarine cable between Chennai and five islands of Andaman & Nicobar including Car Nicobar, Havlock and Great islands,” the official said.
