After attracting big companies such as Wipro, Bosch and others from Bangalore, Tamil Nadu’s Tidel Park is wooing mid-sized IT companies for Coimbatore.

A Tidel Park team led by Tamil Nadu’s IT Secretary T.K. Ramachandran and Director of e-Governance Atul Anand interacted with over 40 Bangalore-based companies at a road show here.

“We are showcasing Coimbatore because it has several start-ups. Now we are following it up with mid-sized IT companies for they hold the future for tier-II cities,” Ramachandran said.

“So far both government and private sector have invested close to Rs 1,700 crore in Coimbatore to create necessary infrastructure,” he added.

Tidel Park Coimbatore is located on a 10-acre plot of Elcot, IT-SEZ. The built-up area is 1.7 million square feet constructed at a cost of Rs 407 crore.

The IT secretary said Coimbatore accounts for an annual turnover of Rs 16,000 crore. He said the cost advantage is 34 per cent over Chennai. The government has also doled out attractive rental options for the IT companies in Coimbatore, Anand said.

Monthly rent is Rs 25 per square feet for warm shell on a 5 to 9 years lease. “Clients opting for space of over 50,000 square feet are offered concessional rates of Rs 23 a square feet with zero escalation charges for first three years,” said Anand.

P. Shanmugasundaram, managing director, Tidel Park, said, “We are offering additional option for Bangalore companies. IT space is available on lease with one-time payment of Rs 2,548 per square feet for 15 years, Rs 2,943 per square feet for 20 years, Rs 3,215 per square feet for 25 years and Rs 3,402 per square feet for 30 years.”

“For those who opt for one-time payment, we have waived rent for the last five years of the lease period,” he added.
