The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has enhanced the ceiling on processing fee from Rs 2 to Rs 3 for top-up vouchers with Rs 20 or more value.
Top-up vouchers are used by mobile pre-paid subscribers for addition of monetary value to their account. Processing fee for vouchers with less than Rs 20 value will continue to be Rs 2.
“While increasing the processing fee on top-up vouchers, the Authority has sought to protect the interests of low-end users by excluding the lower denominations of top-up vouchers from the hike,’’ TRAI said.
The Authority has also mandated the service providers to ensure the availability of Rs 10 denomination as top-up voucher.
