Online travel information portal HolidayIQ.com expects 85 per cent of its traffic to come from mobiles by this year-end.
HolidayIQ.com’s founder and CEO Hari Nair said, at present, mobile accounts for 55 per cent of its traffic.
The portal, which has travel-related content, sees big opportunity in this space and is looking for a fresh round of funding in the latter half of 2015 from existing investors — Tiger Global Management and Accel Partners.
“The money would be used to invest in our mobile technology and also for brand building,” he said.
The Bengaluru-based company last month had launched an offline mobile app-based guide for over 1,300 Indian destinations with details on hotels, sightseeing options, etc, allowing the user to access traveller reviews and maps on the go even without internet connectivity.
Nair said, “Our app gets seven times more reviews compared with those that we get on our website. We are adding 2-3 pieces to the app and it will be live from April end. We will start spending on its promotion and market it actively from May.” Going forward, the company aims to grow 6-7 fold in next 18 months. Its staff will double from the current strength of 120, he added.
