The Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on Monday reserved its judgment on whether it has jurisdiction to hear mobile operator's plea on 3G roaming issue.
The Department of Telecom had questioned the Tribunal's jurisdiction after mobile companies challenged an order banning intra-circle roaming agreements between operators.
In case the Tribunal does not find merit in the DoT's view on 3G roaming deals, the Tribunal will resume the hearing on February 2.
On December 24, TDSAT had asked the DoT not to take any “coercive action” against telecom operators over their 3G roaming agreements till a judgment is given in the case. The telecom operators had approached the Tribunal after the telecom department asked them to stop 3G services in circles in which they do not own 3G spectrum.
