Telecom services provider, Uninor, is likely to invest Rs 500 crore during this calendar year, according to its Chief Executive Officer, Vivek Sood.
Speaking to newspersons here on Monday, Sood said the mobilisation of the funds could also be done by borrowing. Last year, the fully-owned subsidiary of the Telenor group had invested a similar amount, he added.
Uninor, which is operating in 7 circles including Assam now, is formulating its strategy for the 4G spectrum auction, he said. The 2G customers of the company were using internet for simple purposes like browsing mail, etc. “About 23 per cent of our customers are regular internet users. Internet use has also been there on 2G,’’ Sood said.
Uninor had completed previously-announced net work expansion and added 5,000 new network sites in six circles including 624 in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It now has an active customer base of 37 million.
