Most of us are wary of sharing our location. But what we forget is that sharing our location, at least with our close relatives and friends, can help us a lot, especially when we are in a difficult situation. Or it may just help them keep track of our journey, so that they need not call us every ten minutes just to find out just where we are.

Though there are several apps that help you do that, Glympse is one app that helps you do it easily, and also has additional features such as continuous tracking (as you move) and time expiry.

Sending a Glympse is easy, but to do it, that you must have the app in your phone goes without saying.

Once you decide to share your location, you select the contacts to whom you want to ‘Share your where’ as Glympse describes itself. You can set the time limit to ‘expire’ your ‘share’. It is not necessary for the recipient to have the app.

Once you send the invite, either through email, Facebook or Twitter, your friend can start viewing your ‘where’. You can either set it to expire within a set time or after you reach the destination.

Glympse can work as a security app too. You can activate Glympse in your child’s phone when she goes out to her class, and you can track her movement till she reaches the class. In the same way, she can activate Glympse and send the link to you when she leaves the class.

There is also a group option where one can send invite to a group of people, like in an office.

Glympse is available across platforms - Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Windows 7 and 8.
