Chief Minister launches ‘e-Nagarpalika’ to kick-start the platform

Digital technology services player UST Global will work with the Government of Madhya Pradesh to lay the foundation for a ‘Digital Madhya Pradesh.’

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the ‘e-Nagarpalika’ project for this purpose at his official residence in Bhopal on April 1.

Sajan Pillai, CEO, UST Global, addressed the gathering along with Maya Singh, Minister for Urban Development, Madhya Pradesh, Malay Srivastava, Principal Secretary, and Vivek Agarwal, Commissioner, Directorate of Urban Administration & Development.

UST Global and the State government are committed to ushering in an era of good governance, accelerated economic growth, and inclusive social development, a company spokesperson said.

e-Nagarpalika is a pioneering project to drive State-wide implementation of an e-governance platform that connects 378 urban local bodies including 16 municipal corporations, 98 municipal councils and 264 nagar panchayats.

Unified operating system

The Madhya Pradesh government has proposed to set up seven Smart Cities and 11 Amrut cities. e-Nagarpalika will serve as the unified urban operating system for these cities, the spokesperson added.

Citizen services available on e-Nagarpalika include registration of birth, death and marriage; request for litter and debris collection; and evidence certificate for placing insurance claims.

Other services being facilitated include fire and rescue, septic tank cleaning, sewerage cleaning, tree cutting, water tanker, ambulance, mobile toilet, funeral van on call and grievance registration and tracking.

Citizens can access e-Nagarpalika through a mobile app or on the Internet, call centre, SMS and a citizen facilitation centre.

From a governance perspective, e-Nagarpalika will help with financial accounting management, Budget, property tax processing, water billing, project systems, asset management, material and procurement management, HR and payroll, real estate management and employee self-service.
