NYSE-listed VMware has been selected by the Maharashtra Government to provide a range of services for supporting the e-governance needs of various State departments. VMware will provide virtualisation and cloud infrastructure technology for the MahaGov Cloud, an initiative that encompasses providing infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and software-as-a-service (SaaS) to the various departments, according to a press statement from the company. VMware said the deployment has helped the State Government lower the cost of hosting, improve the management of the State data-centre infrastructure, and reduce the time required to provision infrastructure for various departments.
