Telecom major Vodafone India posted a 19.5 per cent increase in service revenues at Rs 32,184 crore over FY11 numbers.

In comparison, other telecom operators such as Idea and Bharti Airtel reported an increase of 26 per cent and 20 per cent in revenues respectively.

Vodafone's earnings before interest, depreciation and taxes (EBIDTA) increased by 21.6 per cent year-on-year to Rs 8,549 crore in FY12. The increase in services revenue was contributed by a significant increase in the data revenue. The data revenue increased by 51 per cent to Rs 2,647 crore in FY12 against the year-ago figures. The number of data users were 3.5 crore (growth of 81.5 per cent y-o-y). Voice revenue grew by 15.4 per cent, messaging revenue increased nearly by 30 per cent and fixed line revenues more than doubled in FY12.

There was an increase in the capex spends to Rs 6,216 crore in FY12 from Rs 6,155 crore in FY11. Vodafone India's ARPU was Rs 180, in comparison with Idea with an ARPU of Rs 160 and Bharti Airtel with an ARPU of Rs 189. Other key revenue indicators like subscriber base and Minutes of usage also improved over last year's figures. The net debt of the company is Rs 30,000 crore.

Mr Marten Pieters, MD and CEO of Vodafone India, felt that the recommendations proposed by TRAI were “completely out of line” with other countries. He pointed out that the real problem is the “availability and proposed pricing of the spectrum.” If spectrum is sold at proposed prices we will see steep price increases, he said.

On the proposed IPO, the company said that it may get delayed in view of the uncertainty in the spectrum pricing and allocation policy.
