Samsung, which has a substantial share of the Indian smartphone market, is well-prepared to take advantage of the 4G revolution that has just begun in the country.
“We will lead the 4G revolution with our advanced technology and affordable range of devices,” Raju Pullan, Vice-President of Samsung India’s mobile business, told BusinessLine . “We are committed to the 4G technology,” he said, adding, “We have launched 10 smartphones so far this year that are 4G-compliant.” He said this range of 16 low-end to upper-end devices offered the customers choices to make the best use of the new advances in technology.
Of these 16, ten were 4G-compliant. Asked if the continuing weak connectivity would be an obstacle, Pullan said telecom service providers would be jacking up their capabilities to meet the new challenges.
Pullan claimed that Samsung continues to be the leader of the smartphone market. The brand has registered a steady growth during January-June this year. “In June, Samsung had a 40.3-per-cent smartphone value share,” he noted. This was set to grow in view of the launch of new phones. Continuous innovation, which he said was the strength of the brand, was driving Samsung’s increasing presence. He hoped that the newest offering, A8, which had advanced features to make better use of 4G technology, would be a hit with new generation mobile users.
