Wipro has launched a post-graduate course in analytics for engineering and science graduates.
Called WiSTA – Data Scientist, the programme is for full-time Wipro employees and will be conducted in partnership with the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), according to a company statement. Further, VIT will award Master of Technology and Master of Science degrees in analytics to employees completing the course.
The WiSTA – Data Scientist programme aims to create an industry-ready cadre of data scientists within Wipro and will work with its customers in the US and in other international locations, according to company officials. According to industry estimates, organisations in the US face a shortage of 1,40,000 to 1,90,000 employees with analytical skills. The US also requires 1.5 million managers and analysts who can analyse big data and make decisions based on the findings, according to industry watchers.
