Seven top blue-chip companies lost a combined Rs 19,266 crore in market valuation last week, with TCS, ITC and Coal India the worst hit.
The drop in market capitalisation (m-cap) of these blue-chip companies came as the benchmark Sensex fell 0.9 per cent over last week to 20,217.39 on Friday.
While TCS, Reliance Industries, ITC, Infosys, Coal India, Bharti Airtel and NTPC lost m-cap, ONGC, HDFC Bank and HDFC made gains.
The market value of IT major TCS slipped Rs 4,907 crore to Rs 3,91,882 crore. ITC’s value dipped Rs 4,681 crore to Rs 2,44,526 crore, while m-cap of Coal India dropped Rs 4,011 crore to Rs 1,69,120 crore.
The market cap of Reliance Industries fell Rs 2,536 crore to Rs 2,72,662 crore, while NTPC lost Rs 1,773 crore to Rs 1,24,176 crore.
Bharti Airtel’s value declined Rs 1,099 crore to Rs 1,34,452 crore and the m-cap of Infosys fell Rs 259 crore to Rs 1,92,328 crore.
On the other hand, ONGC added Rs 6,801 crore to Rs 2,37,970 crore, while HDFC Bank saw a rise of Rs 108 crore to Rs 1,53,672 crore. Mortgage lender HDFC’s value went up Rs 29 crore to Rs 1,23,793 crore.
TCS continued to rule the top 10 companies’ chart, followed by Reliance Industries, ITC, ONGC, Infosys, Coal India, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, NTPC and HDFC.
