Tata Power today said Tata Group Chairman Cyrus Mistry has purchased 64,000 shares of the power generation firm for Rs 49.77 lakh from the market.
“Cyrus Mistry has acquired 64,000 shares (0.0027 per cent voting right) of Tata Power for Rs 49.77 lakh,” the company said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchange.
The shares were bought yesterday through the open market route, the company said in the filing.
Mistry took over as Chairman of the Tata group in November last year and he was inducted on the board of Tata Power in December, 2011.
Tata Power, country’s largest private power producer, has an installed generation capacity of over 8,500 MW.
It is also evaluating opportunities to acquire projects across the country.
Meanwhile, shares of Tata Power closed at Rs 83, up 6.48 per cent from the previous close on the BSE today.
