The stock of IRB Infrastructure Developers closed 11 per cent down at Rs 149.65 on the BSE. This follows news that its Chairman is to be investigated in connection with the murder of an activist in Pune.
Mr Virendra Mhaiskar, Chairman, is among the 10 persons sought by the CBI for investigation, reports said.
In a communiqué to the BSE, IRB said, the deceased RTI activist's brother had named various persons, including Mr Virendra Mhaiskar, as a suspect. The police had conducted a through inquiry in the matter and given a clean chit to Mr Mhaiskar.
However, the deceased's brother, unhappy with the police investigation, petitioned the State Government, which had handed over the investigation to CBI.
During the course of investigation, CBI had, along with several other suspects, asked Mr Mhaiskar and other two company officials to undergo a polygraph test. Mr Mhaiskar and the company officials have readily agreed to undergo the polygraph test since they are confident of their non-involvement in the matter.
The company and its management are fully co-operating with the investigating agency since they have full faith in the due process of law, the company said.
