Idea Cellular shares surged on Tuesday after the GSM operator announced a 57.4 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 728.2 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2014.
At 10.59 a.m., the Aditya Birla group company’s shares were trading up by 4.22 per cent at Rs 145.70 a share on a strong BSE, which was up 0.8 per cent.
On Monday, Idea Cellular had announced its first quarter results after market hours.
The company has posted a 57.4 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 728.2 crore for the first quarter ended June 30. The GSM operator has posted a net profit of Rs 462.7 crore during the comparable quarter a year ago.
During the reporting period, the Aditya Birla group company’s total revenues rose 15.6 per cent to Rs 7,561 crore from Rs 6,538.8 crore in the same period a year ago.
