Nearly 23 per cent, worth ₹3.12 crore, of the 19.38 lakh kg on offer at Sale No: 31 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions remained unsold despite average prices falling to ₹65.77 a kg from previous week’s ₹66.43. Darmona Estate’s Super Fine Dust topped Dust tea auction and CTC market at ₹199 a kg. Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings topped CTC Leaf tea auction fetching ₹190. Among orthodox teas from corporate sector, Kodanad’s clonal Broken Orange Pekoe Dust topped Orthodox market at ₹285. Quotations held by brokers indicated bids ranging ₹40-43 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹100-124 for brighter liquoring sorts. They ranged ₹40-50 for plain dusts and ₹110-175 for brighter liquoring dusts. There was some purchase for Pakistan for ₹42-65 a kg.
