As much as 29 per cent of the 11.32 lakh kg offered for Sale No: 15 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) auctions remained unsold despite the average price falling to ₹105.95 a kg, the lowest so far in calendar 2017, following inadequate demand. Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP), auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the leaf tea auctions and the entire CTC market when Vishal Marketing Co bought it for ₹246 a kg. Darmona Estate’s BOP, auctioned by J Thomas and Co, followed it at ₹226.
