About 82 per cent of the 9.19 lakh kg offered for Sale No: 10 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) auctions absorbed with average price ruling ₹110.04 a kg from previous week’s ₹110.44. Darmona Tea Industry’s Broken Orange Pekoe grade, auctioned by J Thomas and Co., topped when Belmount Tea and Produce Company bought it for ₹252 a kg. This was the highest price in the auction-and for the third consecutive week-beating all entries of all kinds of tea from all manufacturers including corporates. In addition, it exceeded its own previous high record of ₹246 for this grade. Two leaf grades of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed it at ₹229 and ₹209. In the Dust tea auction, Homedale Estate’s Red Dust and Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped each fetching ₹226 per kg. In the orthodox market, Kodanad topped at ₹196 a kg.
