Despite the average price rising to ₹88.30 a kg at Sale No: 19 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association from previous week’s ₹87.93, the volume sold remained at 84 per cent of the offer because of improvement in demand.
Among CTC teas from bought-leaf factories, Homedale Estate’s Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped both the Dust auctions and the entire CTC market when Om Enterprises bought it for ₹206 a kg.
In CTC Leaf auction, Darmona Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe, auctioned by J Thomas and Co topped at ₹201.
In the orthodox market, Kodanad topped at ₹235 a kg followed by Havukal at ₹228.
In the orthodox category, a grade titled SFTGFOP of Avataa Beverages, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing, was bought by Sree Sai Corporation for a record price of ₹2,086.
