Around 84 per cent of the offer at Sale No: 39 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold despite the average price rising to ₹80.26 a kg from last week’s ₹78.04 due to increased demand from upcountry buyers and exporters. This was the highest average price since May 26. The Red Dust of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped not only the Dust tea auction but the entire CTC market when Badhusha Tea Company bought it for ₹251 a kg. In the Leaf tea auction, Homedale Estate’s Broken Pekoe, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹201. Among orthodox teas, Chamraj topped at ₹265 a kg followed by Kodanad at ₹262.
