About 87 per cent of the 9.8 lakh kg offered in Sale No: 9 of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions were absorbed with the average price ruling at ₹110.44 a kg from the previous week’s ₹109.53.

Darmona Tea Industry’s Broken Orange Pekoe Small grade, auctioned by J Thomas and Co., topped when Sri Sai Corporation bought it for ₹256 a kg.

This created history for the second consecutive week as this small-scale bought-leaf tea factory, located in a small hamlet called Aravenu in Kotagiri taluk, fetched the highest price in the auction, beating entries of all kinds of tea from manufacturers, including corporates.

In the CTC dust tea auction, Homedale Estate’s Super Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹205.

In the orthodox market, Chamraj and Kodanad topped, each fetching ₹240.
