Crude oil futures prices rose 0.34 per cent to Rs 4,957 per barrel today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in March gained Rs 17 or 0.34 per cent to Rs 4,957 per barrel with a business turnover of 8,728 lots.
Similarly, the oil for April delivery moved up by a similar margin to trade at Rs 5,009 per barrel in a business turnover of 825 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firming trend in Asia.
Meanwhile, crude oil for April delivery advanced by 3 cents to $90.46 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
