Crude oil futures prices fell 0.22 per cent to Rs 5,030 per barrel today, as speculators trimmed their positions amid a weakening trend in the Asian trade.
Trading sentiment turned weak at the futures trade after crude oil prices declined in Asian trade following the International Energy Agency (IEA) lowering its global demand forecast, while data showed an increase in US inventories, marketmen said.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in March shed Rs 11 or 0.22 per cent to Rs 5,030 per barrel in 10,651 lots. Similarly, the oil for April delivery moved down by Rs 10 or 0.2 per cent to Rs 5,080 per barrel in 1,669 lots.
Meanwhile, crude oil for April delivery shed 26 cents to $92.26 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
