Crude oil futures prices fell 0.4 per cent to Rs 5,175 per barrel today, after speculators reduced their exposures amid a subdued trend in Asian trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in May fell Rs 21 or 0.4 per cent to Rs 5,175 per barrel in 29,227 lots. Oil for June delivery moved down by a similar margin to Rs 5,080 per barrel in a turnover of 340 lots.
Trading sentiment turned weak as crude prices declined in Asian trade due to profit-booking by traders after a rally on robust US jobs data, analysts said.
Meanwhile, crude oil for June delivery shed 57 cents to $95.59 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
