Crude oil futures prices were up 0.18 per cent to Rs 4,881 per barrel today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in May gained Rs 9 or 0.18 per cent to Rs 4,881 per barrel with a business turnover of 16,727 lots.
Similarly, the oil for June delivery also moved up by a similar margin to Rs 4,911 per barrel with a business volume of 1,090 lots.
Market participants said the rise in crude oil futures was attributed to a firm trend in Asia on bargain buying after a sharp decline recently.
Meanwhile, crude oil for June delivery advanced by 11 cents to $91.14 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
