Dara wheat increased on Friday as some buying emerged, while desi wheat continued to rule flat on account of slack trading. After ruling flat for almost six days, the dara variety went up by Rs 30 and quoted at Rs 1,260 a quintal.
Domestic demand pushed dara wheat prices up, said Mr Sewa Ram, a wheat trader. Flour mills are procuring stocks from the Food Corporation of India too to meet the current demand, he added. Traders expect that prices may increase further, he said.Only 40 tonnes of dara variety arrived from Uttar Pradesh and the stocks were directly offloaded at the mills. Mill delivery was at Rs 1,250-1,255 a quintal while delivery at the chakki was at Rs 1,260 .
On the other hand, desi wheat varieties continued ruled flat. Tohfa sold at Rs 2,210 a quintal, Bhojan King quoted at Rs 2,100, while the Nokia variety traded at 2,020 .
On the NCDX , wheat for August delivery increased by Rs 17, to Rs 1,407 a quintal. September contracts went up by Rs 18 to Rs 1,439 a quintal. Spot prices on the MCX remained unchanged and ruled at Rs 1,357.9 a quintal.With an uptrend in wheat, flour too increased by Rs 10 and quoted at Rs 1,225-1,230 for a 90-kg bag. Similarly, Chokar went up by Rs 15 and sold at Rs 650 for a 49-kg bag.
