Gold futures fell by Rs 81 or 0.28 per cent to Rs 27,728 per 10 grams today as speculators trimmed their positions, tracking weak overseas trends.
At the Multi-Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in February fell by Rs 81 or 0.28 per cent to Rs 27,728 per 10 grams, with a turnover of 1,371 lots.
The metal for delivery in far-month April also shed Rs 76 or 0.27 per cent to Rs 28,035 per 10 grams, with a trading volume of 80 lots.
Analysts attributed fall in gold futures to offloading of positions by speculators tracking weak global markets.
Meanwhile, gold fell by 0.39 per cent to $1,610.50 an ounce in early trade in Singapore.
