The hybrid root variety turmeric was sold in large quantity at Erode markets as traders got some orders from North Indian merchants.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger turmeric fetched ₹3,869-6,309 a quintal and the root variety ₹3,710-5,661.
Salem Hybrid: The finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,539-6,869 and the root variety ₹5,280-6,129. Of the 569 bags that arrived, 170 were sold.
At the Regulated Market Committee, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,166-6,191 and the root variety ₹4,660-5,891. Of the 745 bags on sale, 531 were traded.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric went for ₹5,039-6,169; the root variety ₹4,679-5,927. Of the 830 bags offered, 807 found takers.
At the Gobichettipalayam Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,267-6,417; the root variety ₹4,669-5,876. All the 17 bags were sold.
