Silver prices fell 0.44 per cent to Rs 44,010 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions, tracking a weak trend in the global market.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March traded lower by Rs 193 or 0.44 per cent to Rs 44,010 per kg in a business turnover of 431 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in May declined Rs 183 or 0.41 per cent to Rs 44,997 per kg in a business volume of 11 lots.
In the international market, silver traded 2.54 per cent lower at $19.57 an ounce in New York in yesterday’s trade.
Market analysts said a subdued trend in precious metals in the global market as an improving economy cut the demand for wealth protection, led to a fall in silver prices at the futures trade here.
