Silver prices rose Rs 76 to Rs 41,850 per kg at the futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions on the back of rebound in the precious metals overseas.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 76 or 0.18 per cent at Rs 41,850 per kg in a business turnover of 285 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in July traded higher by Rs 19 or 0.05 per cent to Rs 41,305 per kg in 2,715 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, as precious metals recovered from their lowest levels since September 2010 in the global markets on speculation that the slump may spur purchases, influenced silver prices at the futures trade.

Meanwhile, the white metal gained 0.40 per cent to $19.78 an ounce after falling to $19.39 in Singapore.
