Silver futures prices fell 0.75 per cent to slip below Rs 43,000 per kg level today as speculators engaged in trimming their positions, tracking a weak trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July traded lower by Rs 375 or 0.75 per cent at Rs 42,939 per kg in a business turnover of 3,623 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in September declined by Rs 245 or 0.56 per cent to Rs 43,588 per kg in a business volume of 149 lots.
In the international market, the white metal traded lower by 3.5 per cent at $22.59 an ounce in New York yesterday.
Market analysts said a subdued trend in the global market on signs that investment demand is waning as US equities jumped to records and dollar strengthened, led to fall in silver prices at the futures trade here.
