Sentiment in edible oils markets remained bearish on Friday following volatile futures and currency markets. Imported palmolein declined by Rs 2, while new crop arrivals pushed down cotton refined oil by Rs 3 for 10 kg. Soyabean refined oil was offered at Rs 10 lower in resale compared to refiners but there were no buyers.
Other edible oils remained unchanged. A Mumbai-based broker said the Indian rupee broadly followed the gains in domestic equity markets as there is a possibility of strong inflows from foreign investors. Weak dollar made import parity lower.
Local refineries have reduced their rates for palmolein. Activities remained dull and isolated. At home cotton refined oil was under pressure as daily arrivals of cotton reached to 1.50 lakh bales.
