Ample stocks, weak offtake drag non-basmati rice

Sharbati (steam) rice prices improved by Rs 60 a quintal on Monday, while a few other non-basmati rice varieties dropped by Rs 50-100.

Ample stocks amid weak demand pulled prices down, even as aromatic varieties managed to rule firm at previous levels, said Mr Amit Chandna, Proprietor of Hanuman Rice Trading Company.

In the physical market, Pusa-1121 (steam) quoted at Rs 4,025-4,100 a quintal while Pusa-1121 (sela) sold at Rs 3,475-3,520. Duplicate basmati was at Rs 3,150-3,250 a quintal.

Pure basmati (raw) sold at Rs 4,500 a quintal, while pure basmati (sela) sold at Rs 4,100-4,150.

For the brokens of Pusa-1121, Tibar sold at Rs 3,350, Dubar was at Rs 2,825 while Mongra was trading at Rs 2,275 a quintal.

Sugandha (steam) was trading at Rs 3,200 a quintal. Sharbati (steam) went up Rs 60 at around Rs 2,850-2,900 while Sharbati (sela) decreased by Rs 100 at Rs 2,700 a quintal.

Permal (sela) eased by Rs 50 at Rs 2,100-2,150 a quintal, while Permal (raw) quoted at Rs 2,100-2,120, down Rs 80.

Paddy Arrivals

Around 1,300 bags of aromatic paddy varieties arrived at the Karnal grain market terminal. Around 800 bags of Pusa-1121 arrived and sold at Rs 1,850 a quintal while about 500 bags of pure basmati arrived and sold at Rs 1,920.
