With the trading being lukewarm, dara wheat and flour prices dropped, while desi wheat continued to rule flat on Wednesday.

In the physical market, Dara eased marginally by Rs 5 and settled at Rs 1,515-1,525 a quintal. Around 650 quintals of dara variety arrived from Uttar Pradesh and the stocks were directly offloaded at the mills.

Mill delivery was at Rs 1,515-1,520 while delivery at the chakki was Rs 1,525.

Steady domestic demand and easy availability of stocks pulled wheat and flour down, said market experts. Flour mills are procuring stocks from the FCI also to meet their demand. On the other hand, desi wheat varieties ruled flat and quoted between Rs 2,500 and Rs 2,550 a quintal.

Wheat futures improved on Wednesday on buying interest. On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for January delivery increased by Rs 3 and traded at Rs 1,588while the February contracts went up by Rs 7 to Rs 1,561 . Wheat spot prices on the exchange traded at Rs 1,500 .

Flour Prices

Following a down trend in wheat, flour prices decreased by Rs 15 and quoted at Rs 1,725 a quintal.
