Buyers were staying away from the rising pepper market on Thursday, while sellers were saying that they were not ready to part with their produce at the current prices, market sources told BusinessLine. As a result, there were neither any arrivals nor any off take on the terminal market. Meanwhile, the trade claimed that Vietnam pepper destined for Nepal was landing via Gorakhpur in several of the consuming markets. In the consuming markets, imported pepper was being traded at ₹435 a kg. Spot prices moved up further by ₹200 a quintal to ₹41,200 (ungarbled) and ₹43,200 (garbled). Export prices were at $7,400 a tonne c&f for Europe and $7,650 for the US.
