The small cardamom market witnessed a steady/firm trend on moderate demand amid squeezed supply at auctions held in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
North Indian dealers were actively covering. Exporters were also buying but not aggressively.
At the auction held in Bodi on Monday by the Cardamom Planters Association 7 tonnes arrived and almost the entire quantity sold out. The maximum price was at ₹1,190 a kg. The auction average stood at ₹962.11 a kg.
The individual auction average was vacillating between ₹956 and 1,009 a kg last week.
For those who have bought at higher prices earlier the current trend is disappointing, Mr P C Punnoose, General Manager, CPMC told Business Line.
Prices in the open market today are steady at previous levels.
The growing regions received showers last week.
