The uptrend in chana that has been continuing for the last few days halted on Tuesday as buying support declined at the higher prices.
Chana (kanta) on Tuesday declined by Rs 25 to Rs 3,575 a quintal. Chana (desi) on the other hand ruled at Rs 3,400-3,450; chana (vishal) at Rs 3,100-3,400; chana (masumi) ruled at Rs 3,300-3,500; chana (gulabi) at Rs 3,500-3,600 and Kabuli Bitki at Rs 3,100-3,500. Chana prices increased as speculators pushed up the prices on weak arrivals.
However, notwithstanding Tuesday’s fall, chana prices may gain further in the coming days with stockists building inventories, said a trader.
Chana dal, on the other hand, ruled firm with chana dal (average) being quoted at Rs 4,225-50; chana dal (medium) at Rs 4,325-50; while chana dal (bold) ruled at Rs 4,325-50. However, compared with last week, chana dal in local mandis is ruling Rs 150-175 higher.
Dollar chana ruled flat at Rs 4,500-5,500 on subdued buying support. In the container trade, dollar chana gained Rs 50 on improved export demand with dollar chana (42/44 count) ruled at Rs 6,525-50; 44/46 count at Rs 6,300-6,325; 46/48 count at Rs 6,100-6,125, while dollar chana (58/60 count) ruled at Rs 4,225-50 and 60/62 count at Rs 4,125-50. Arrival of dollar chana in Madhya Pradesh was at 55,000-58,000 bags; Indore 13,000-14,000; Dewas 6,500-7,000; Ujjain 2,500-3,000 and Ratlam 2,200-2,500 bags.
