Crude oil futures declined 0.25 per cent to Rs 5,143 per barrel today after speculators trimmed positions largely in tandem with a weak trend in Asian trade as traders booked profits from recent gains.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in June shed Rs 13 or 0.25 per cent to Rs 5,143 per barrel with a business volume of 206 lots.
Similarly, the oil prices for May contract also moved down by Rs 11 or 0.21 per cent to Rs 5,113 per barrel with a business volume of 1,935 lots.
Marketmen said the fall in crude oil futures prices was mostly in line with a weak trend in Asia after traders booked profits from recent gains.
Meanwhile, crude oil for delivery in June was down 17 cents at $94.33 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
