Crude oil futures prices declined by 0.24 per cent to Rs 5,301 per barrel today as speculators reduced positions amid a weak trend in Asian trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in September shed Rs 13 or 0.24 per cent to Rs 5,301 per barrel with a business volume of 15,049 lots.
Similarly, the oil for October delivery moved down by Rs 14 or 0.26 per cent to Rs 5,333 per barrel with a turnover of 1,220 lots.
Marketmen said the fall in crude oil futures prices was in line with a weak trend in Asia as supply concerns eased after Hurricane Isaac left production facilities in the US Gulf of Mexico relatively unscathed.
Meanwhile, crude oil for delivery in October was down 42 cents at $95.07 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
