Crude oil futures prices rose 0.59 per cent to Rs 5,124 per barrel today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in April gained Rs 30 or 0.59 per cent to Rs 5,124 per barrel with a business turnover of 6,477 lots.
Similarly, the oil for May delivery moved up by Rs 29 or 0.56 per cent to Rs 5,166 per barrel with a business volume of 598 lots.
Market participants said the rise in crude oil futures was attributed to a firming trend in Asia ahead of US jobs data.
Meanwhile, crude oil for March delivery advanced by 18 cents to $93.44 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
