Crude oil prices rose 0.71 per cent to Rs 6,226 per barrel at the futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, tracking a firm trend in the Asian region, mainly on upbeat economic growth data from China.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in November rose Rs 44 or 0.71 per cent to Rs 6,226 per barrel in a business turnover of 1,338 lots. Similarly, the oil for delivery in October gained Rs 42 or 0.68 per cent to Rs 6,185 per barrel in 11,067 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in crude oil futures to fresh positions created by speculators, tracking a firm trend in the Asian region on upbeat economic growth data from China.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for delivery in November, was up 12 cents at $100.79 a barrel in mid-morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
