Crude oil futures tumbled 2.68 per cent to Rs 3,300 per barrel today as speculators reduced their exposures amid a weak trend in Asian market.
Trading sentiment dampened at the futures trade due to a fall in crude oil prices in Asian trade as dealers await fresh leads from the US, a top crude oil consumer, analysts said.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in January shed Rs 91 or 2.68 per cent to Rs 3,300 per barrel in 6,241 lots.
The oil for February delivery moved down by Rs 88 or 2.55 per cent to Rs 3,359 per barrel in a volume of 513 lots.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil for February delivery was down by 93 cents to $51.76 a barrel, while Brent crude for February eased 75 cents to $55.67 per barrel in morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
