Crude oil futures rose by 0.42 per cent to Rs 3,109 per barrel today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in March gained Rs 13, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 3,109 per barrel, with a business turnover of 2,908 lots.
The oil for the April delivery moved up by Rs 23, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 3,222 per barrel, with a business volume of 81 lots.
Analysts said rebound in Asian oil prices after falling sharply the day before mainly influenced crude prices at futures trade here.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude oil for the April delivery advanced by 11 cents at USD 49.56, while Brent crude for April gained 29 cents to USD 59.19 a barrel in late morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
