Crude oil futures prices rose 0.22 per cent to Rs 6,245 per barrel today as speculators engaged in creating positions amid a mixed trend in Asia.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in February gained Rs 14 or 0.22 per cent to Rs 6,245 per barrel with a business turnover of 1,002 lots.

Similarly, the oil for March delivery moved up by Rs 10 or 0.16 per cent to Rs 6,256 per barrel with a business volume of 213 lots.

Marketmen said the rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a mixed trend in Asian trade with cold weather in the US pushing the demand for heating fuel higher and credit growth in China also giving support.

Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude prices for March delivery was trading 39 cents higher at $100.69 a barrel in late morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
