Crude oil futures prices today fell 0.92 per cent to Rs 6,651 per barrel after speculators reduced their exposures amid a subdued trend in Asian trade ahead of US stockpiles data.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in October fell Rs 62 or 0.92 per cent to Rs 6,651 per barrel in 1,198 lots. Similarly, September contract moved down by Rs 58 or 0.86 per cent to Rs 6,651 per barrel in a turnover of 14,065 lots.
Analysts said the fall in crude oil at the futures trade was mostly in tune with a weak trend in the Asian region as traders await fresh US stockpiles data and the Federal Reserve minutes from its July policy meeting.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for October delivery shed 28 cents to $104.83 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange in the morning trade today.
