Crude oil futures prices rose 0.12 per cent to Rs 5,062 per barrel today as speculators created positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in November gained Rs 6 or 0.12 per cent to Rs 5,062 per barrel with a business turnover of 2,048 lots.
Similarly, the oil for December delivery moved up by Rs 4 or 0.08 per cent to Rs 5,065 per barrel with a business volume of 41 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firm trend in Asian trade buoyed by strong industrial production data from China, the world’s top energy consuming nation.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude oil prices for November delivery advanced 17 cents to $82.88 and Brent crude for December added four cents to $84.44 a barrel in late-morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
