Dearer inputs keep feed prices firm

A steady trend in Soyameal and a range-bound trend in the prices of other feed ingredients kept poultry feed prices unchanged on Wednesday.

Subhash Sharma, Financial Head, Sarvottam Poultry Feed Supply Centre Pvt Ltd, told Business Line that good demand and steady input cost kept feed products unchanged. Feed products have been ruling unchanged since the fist week of August and may continue to rule around current levels for the next few days too. Demand for feed products from other states are good and any major alteration in feed prices is unlikely, said Mr Sharma.

After witnessing a rally last week, soyameal prices have been ruling unchanged since then and quoted at around Rs 4,200-4,250 a quintal on Wednesday.

Maize ruled flat and quoted at Rs 1,510, bajra increased by Rs 100 at Rs 1,300, DCP went for Rs 42 a kg, while fish oil decreased by Rs 4 and went for at Rs 96 a litre.

POULTRY FEED PRODUCTS

Broiler concentrates feed quoted at Rs 2,010 for a 50-kg bag while broiler starter mash was at Rs 1,490.

Broiler pre-starter concentrate 30 per cent sold at Rs 1,700 for a 30-kg bag, while layer concentrate cost Rs 1,530 for a 50-kg bag.

Pre-lay mash was Rs 1,050 while broiler finisher sold at Rs 1,470 for a 50-kg bag.

Meanwhile, Egg recovered marginally on better demand, on Wednesday. Egg price was up by 20 paise to Rs 3.50. On the other hand, Broiler and chick went down on sluggish demand, Broiler prices decreased by Rs 10 quoted at Rs 70 a kg, while chick went down by Rs 3 and sold at Rs 12.
